FAQ

Classes

  • If you attempt to sign up for a class and the system does not allow you to sign up, that means the class is full. We try to update the website as much as possible to indicate if a class is full, but there may be a lag time.

Puppy Camp

  • Drop off is between 8-8:30 am. Pickup is between 11:30 am and 12:00 pm. Dogs MUST be picked up by noon. Late pickups incur a $15 charge for every fifteen minutes or portion thereof.

  • Puppy camp is intended for puppies between 8 and 20 weeks. For puppies over 20 weeks, we recommend a training class where you can work with your puppy.

  • Puppies will not be playing the entire time! In addition to supervised, controlled play and brief work on core training concepts, we also teach the puppies how to relax and sleep in exciting situations.

What Class Should I Take

  • For a dog under 20 weeks:

    • All dogs under 20 weeks are welcome in Puppy Play & Train and Puppy Camp. Puppies who are under 14 weeks at the start of class belong in Baby Puppy. Puppies who are between 14 and 20 weeks on week 1 belong in Older Puppy.

    • Due to demand, Older Puppy is not always on the schedule. At our discretion we may allow you into Baby Puppy.

  • For reactive or barky-lungy dogs: Frustrated Fido is our reactive dogs class. Barky-lungy dogs are also welcome in Nosework, as only one dog participates at a time, and the other dogs are in their cars.

  • For new rehomes: Tenacious Teens and Growing Pains both address common behavior issues in the context of dogs under 2 years, and can be good fits for dogs over 2 who were recently adopted. The Basics is always a great option.

  • I have an adult dog and have never taken a class! The Basics will get you off on the right foot. If your dog is a sporting breed, Gun Dog 1 is also entry level.

  • For dogs who have completed one of our other classes: Tricks, Nosework, CGC, Gun Dog… We’re always adding new classes and trying new things, check back soon!

What’s the Difference Between…

  • Tenacious Teens and Growing Pains?

    • Tenacious Teens is held Mondays or Tuesdays by Erica Wells, CPDT-KA and is 5 weeks long. Growing Pains is held Fridays or Sundays by Nicole Hayes, CPDT-KA and is 6 weeks long. Otherwise, both classes cover common adolescent behavior issues (jumping, pulling on leash, lack of response to known cues) and work on basic obedience (sit, come, loose leash walking). We recommend choosing based on your availability and class openings.

  • Frustrated Fido and Tenacious Teens?

    • Both classes are taught by Erica Wells, CPDT-KA. Frustrated Fido is for dogs who bark, lunge, snap, or growl at other dogs while ON-LEASH. It does not cover the usual obedience skills and focuses entirely on managing your feisty dog and helping them focus around other dogs. Tenacious Teens is for adolescent dogs with selective hearing! Tenacious Teens covers basic obedience as well as common behavior issues, one of which is barking at other dogs. If your dog is older or a determined barker, take Frustrated Fido; if they’re younger, take Tenacious Teens.

  • Tenacious Teens/Growing Pains and the Basics?

    • Tenacious Teens and Growing Pains both have a substantial focus on behavior concerns and management. The Basics is all about basic obedience and pet manners, and spends much less time (if any at all) on jumping, barking at other dogs, or stealing socks.

  • Beginner Nosework and Multi-Level Nosework?

    • Our nosework classes fill fast! While Beginner Nosework is geared for people with no experience, novices are welcome in Multi-Level Nosework as well. In any nosework class, we will meet your dog where they’re at,

Swimming

  • For all swim appointments, please bring your dog, a towel, and plenty of small, soft treats. We have spare treats and towels as needed.

  • For self swims and swim orientations, come prepared to get in the water yourself! For assisted swims, you will not be in the pool (that’s our job).

  • If you do not see a time available to schedule an appointment that means nothing is available. Continue to check back on a regular basis.

Parking

  • We have new parking spots and new parking rules!:

  • Please park on the new gravel area in front of the training garage on the left of the property (three spots), or on the new gravel area to the to the left of the barn, just past the pool (two very large spots).

  • Swimmers: we suggest that you park on the gravel area just past the pool on the left.

  • Folks using the field or agility ring: please park in the gravel area just past the pool on the left.

  • Classes or privates: we suggest parking in one of the three spots in the gravel area on the left in front of the training garage. Or you may park in the two spots in front of the training garage (please make sure you are completely on the parking pad so other clients can get through!)

  • DO NOT PARK: In the driveway, in front of the barn (please use the new gravel area), anywhere you are blocking cars that may need to get out from the back of the property, Please do not park in front of the training garage unless you are here for classes.

  • When parking, keep in mind that we have many people on the property, both arriving after you and leaving before you. Please be aware of this and park accordingly.
